Large Tote Bag

I saw a fellow quilter carried this bag last year to a charity sew-in group and she pulled out at least 4-6 quilts for donation from this one bag and I was impressed. Everytime I thought about bringing my quilts for show & tell, I faced the dilemma of how to bring them cos my bags were too small and I didn't want to carry multiple bags and feel like a 'bag lady'...:) So I emailed this lady about the patterns and tada..........here it is and I got to use it over the weekend where I brought about 6-8 quilt tops and there was still plenty room left to carry more. I am really happy with this bag, the color and how much it can hold.

New Bag

I had signed up for some jewish bakery class. Last year I had bought lots of these jewish fabric cos I love the colors and the feel of the fabric. So I decided to make a bag to carry to class that is versatile and practical. Must be able to carry my wallet, phone, bottle water, tissue, pen and tablet and it does.

Design Wall

Bread Pudding

I had cravings for bread pudding the other day so I went shopping in my pantry and found some week old bread, evaporated milk, raisins, brown sugar and vanilla. So I used these ingredients as substitute for the recipe I found on the web. Praise God I had eggs in the fridge cos I really didn't feel like going out shopping for groceries. It was a really simple recipe, mix everything up and soak the bread and bake. I have to say that they were yummy...............

Coasters

On my vacation last year in Asia, I had seen these coasters in one of the quilt shops which caught my eye. The curved shapes just made it so lovely and sweet. So I bought a kit but unfortunately, I couldn't follow the instructions and didn't care for the fabric that came with it. The fabric used in their showcase looked alot better.
So .....since I am known for altering patterns and instructions...:):):), I figured a better way that suited me to make these coasters and used my own fabrics instead. I love making these. Lots of handwork involved but small enough to be finished quickly. I may make more as small gifts.

First Paper Piecing

When I first learned about paper piecing thru watching a show on tv or youtube couple years ago, I said to myself.....'I will never do that, its too complicated and will take forever"....:):):)....fast forward couple years and some weeks ago, I finally made myself read up on the technique and sample a sew up. It was my first time using freezer paper and I thought that it was kinda neat that the shiny size actually sticks to your fabric like glue. Love that.....so practical......draw on on side, glue on the other........ So since it is for sample, I used my stash incase you are wondering about the different fabric prints. The applique flower on top of the hat........yeah that one.......well, thats to cover a boo boo.....'a mistake'.....I don't remember what I did but somehow there was a hole so hmmmm......

Funny thing is I thought the combination of different prints and colors came together pretty good..........:):):)....oh its suppose to be a boat....

Dear Jane

4 down............221 to go........:):):) I am not sure to celebrate the fact I finally got started on this project or to cry cos I am so way behind on it. A fellow quilter introduced me to a 'Dear Jane' support group I call it where we are required to make 6 blocks a month but since I had joined one month late I am now 8 blocks shy.

But I have to say I truly enjoy making and working on these blocks. They are small and unique and the book does not give instructions as to how to make them so you pretty much can make them any way you want to and I truly appreciate that freedom of choice. So liberating. Also love the fabrics I have collected.

I have not square them up yet. Will leave that till last.

On the Design Wall

Been working on some art quilts and 'Dear Jane' blocks lately. Trying my hands on new techniques( paper piecing, bias binding) that I never thought I would be interested in or enjoy doing but to my surprise, I actually enjoy myself very much and time just flies when I am working on them. The paper piecing was actually really fun. I have to say I really enjoy it and was looking for more designs to piece and already thinking about a new quilt that I could make entirely of paper piecing.

Below are two art quilts I am currently working on. I have two more to go. I had bought a series of four patterns at the quilt show couple years ago when I started quilting but when I got home and read the instructions and found out that it required paper piecing, I kinda chickened out cos I didn't know what that was or how to go about doing it and having to create your own bias binding was another stress factor there and I thought, wait, I had picked up quilting as a form of therapy and stress relief so I decided to set them aside until last year, I came upon them again and took them out but again they sat somewhere on the shelves until couple weeks ago, when I decided I had better get started on my Dear Jane blocks. So I forced myself to learn paper piecing as most Dear Jane are paper pieced. And I just happened to find these patterns again so.....tada I have not decided whether to add borders or how I will finish them. They are pretty small 15x15 so won't be hard to quilt. Actually looking forward to quilting them as I have not quilt for a few months. Holidays just seem to disrupt my routine and its always hard to get back to them.
