Mosiac Stepping Stone

I have been wanting to try mosaic for ages.

After my house was built, the builder left 4 stepping stones in my tiny sideyard and it was just plain red concrete, the ones you get from home depot.

So I decided to try mosaic on them. Went to the store and got my supplies, and started the chinese character one first. It turned out nice and I was hooked and excited.

So I became more adventurous and did the lizard and that came out really nice and I was really inspired by now to finish all 4 steps. Then I did the dragonfly and love it.

For the last one, I wanted something different so I settle on flowers and I love this one too.

I just love my mosaic steps and I love the process of making them. They really brighten up my garden and I feel very good walking on them.

Charity Quilt - 2

This quilt top center piece is actually a remnant piece of house printed fabric.

The colorful borders are 1 1/2" stripes.

An older lady of a bee group actually helped pieced the borders and we had alot of fun making this quilt. All the fabrics were from stash and donated fabrics.

I can't wait to find sometime to do the quilting. It will be a good challenge and practise for me.

Fat Quarters

I combined my love of pottery and quilting and here is what I came up with - a pencil holder with a quilting theme....

Anyway, it was a fun project and was donated to a guild for their fundraising.

Which reminds me I have to make more for a few friends who have requested them.

Charity Quilts -1

This blue and yellow quilt top was pieced from strips rotary cut into 2 1/2".

I have been wanting to practise my free motion machine quilting so decided to give it a go on this top.

Because I knew this was going to be a charity quilt, I was under no pressure at all to be perfect but just enjoy the process and have fun. I must say I had alot of fun and learned alot.

Painted Tile Coasters

I had originally created this blog for my art/pottery works so I went around the house looking for some of my finished projects to photograph. I decided on these two tiles I had painted several years ago. It is painted in underglaze and low fired.

I was at that time doing some redwork hand embroidery of these same 'colonial girl' motif and thought maybe I could paint some in blue on tiles to be use as coasters.

I love how they came out and they are well used in my kitchen/dining.

Art Quilt for Kitchen -Tuscany

I picked up quilting a year ago and really enjoyed art quilts. I have been experimenting with various tools, fabrics, techniques, machines and acquired quite a stassssh of fabrics and tools from my visit to the Houston Quilt Festival last year.

Since moving to my house 2 years ago, I have not been able to find anything to fill my kitchen nook because of it's weird shape. I decided maybe I can make an art quilt for it. My inspirations came from various books and photos, lots of fabric, and thru trials and error, the quilt was finally finished and I am happy with it. My kitchen finally looks complete.

Now I have to tackle the entrance nook. Been thinking of another art quilt.....
