Several months ago, I came across this '10 min Block' tutorial on YouTube and thought what a great way to make charity quilts. Now, are these really 10 mins block ?..... well, it depends on how you look at it.
As you can see below, the quilt top actually comprises of 9 big blocks (1 light diamond with 4 blocks surrounding = 1 big block). Each big block is constructed together by folding, pinning and maneuvering 5 square pieces of fabric. After sewing the seams and pressing, tada....you have yourself a big block. Now, if you were to divide the time taken to make the one big block by 4 or 5 blocks(depends on whether you include the middle diamond as a block) then yes, each block is 10 mins but the total for one big block is not.
Overall, it was a fun and interesting pattern to follow and learn. Almost like a puzzle and you can get lost if you are not concertrating. Well, I did anyway and had to reread the pattern again along the way..... :) I don't think it is an easy pattern to remember unless you make lots of this or often. The good thing is if you start out using big squares of fabric, you will get big blocks which equals to big quilts so you won't have to add borders to make up for the size of the finish quilt top.
